*Random Thoughts*

The main event was excellent. They told an awesome story considering it was the first time they had a three way match (on the main roster at least). I liked how Ambrose and Rollins turned back the clock to their Shield days by working together to put Reigns through the table. Reminds me of the way Cena & Rollins worked together to put Brock away at the 2015 Royal Rumble. The crowd certainly loved it. The finish made Ambrose look smart, despite of this ‘lunitic’ persona. Got no problem with Ambrose as champ. Reigns being the fall guy was the obvious choice. It be interesting how Raw moves on from here without a World Title on their show. Perhaps they’ll set up a tournament to crown a new champ at SummerSlam. That makes the most sense to me since he’s been a naughty boy.

Speaking about suspensions, Randy Orton taking a shot at Lesnar over his suspension? Pot, Kettle, Black anyone?

Kevin Owens v Sami Zayn stole the show. A contender for match of the year, although I think that honour belongs to Zayn v Nakamura from Takeover: Dallas. The crowd was totally into it, which is no surprise when these guys are involved. Miles better that their Payback match, much better than their NXT encounters I reckon. They two of the best in-ring performers with first class chemistry. Don’t be surprised if either one of these guys wins Superstar of the year.

Finally, Bayley is on the main roster. Just look at that smile on her face (and Sasha’s, too). That real genuine emotion right there. I remember being at an NXT event in Newcastle last December where her merchandise just flew off the shelves. She’s going to be a massive star. I’m just so happy that she’s finally on the main roster.

The US Championship match was very basic. I didn’t see Ryder winning, but I’m just happy he was able to get in his big moves. What I didn’t like was Rusev backing away from Mojo Rawley. I know backing away is the way that a heel should act, but it does look bad when the guy isn’t a big name like Mojo is. I guess The Hype Bros will be a team on Smackdown, which is fine as they need more teams, and Rusev will be a force on Raw going forward.

What a terrible ending to the IC title match. Imagine if you just walked into the room to see Maryse on the ground and Backlund ripping his shirt off. I said it was a double countout but I’m not even too sure about that since they never announced anything. Miz is on Smackdown and Young is on Raw, so I guess that’s the end of this chapter. Odd way to end it.

Notice how Young was staring at his hands after the match. It was similar to how Backlund used to do it back in his early heel days.  Could this be the start of a Darren Young heel turn? The signs are showing.

WWE should do an Enzo Amore stand up show on the Network because his pre-match promo was hysterical. Enzo is so good at coming up with these creative promos. “Never make eye contact with anyone when you’re eating a banana”, I cracked up at that one! It was a very enjoyable promo, that’s for sure.

The match in which Enzo was involved in was good for the most part. I liked the energy of the match as they did some big spots towards the conclusion. It was a bit weird near the end when Cena and Styles were outside the ring for more than a minute, yet the ref was in the ring watching the other guys battle it out even though they shouldn’t have even been in there. The announcers tried to cover for the ref saying he was just letting the guys fight, but it’s a bit sloppy. Cena getting the pin on Styles was done to set up the rematch at SummerSlam. That’s fine by me.

The New Day v The Wyatts really picked up towards the end after a slow start. The Wyatts getting the win was smart because Bray should be made to look strong going into his role as a main event heel on the Smackdown brand. Xavier was fantastic. I love his versatility. One minute he’s intimidated by Bray and the next he’s throws punches left and right. He isn’t always booked strongly, but he was on fire here. I cringed when Big E done that spear to the outside. I feel that he’s going to get asked to stop doing it fearing it could hurt him or somebody else.

I figured Natalya would come up top against Becky Lynch. I thought she would have cheated more for it. I thought there may have been a chance for Lynch to pull off an upset after Natalya began to showboat, but her experience shined through. It was a good story in the match with Natalya softening up the knee of Becky for the entire match. I also liked how Lynch sold the injury by limping as the match progressed. It’s rare for that to happen, so it was a refreshing change. This feud is likely to continue on Smackdown.

Overall show rating (out of 10): 8

What a great show this was. I wasn’t expecting it to be this good. As you can tell, it exceeded my expectations. The matches rated between solid to above average.

Zayn vs. Owens was match of the night, even a contender for match of the year, but I feel that title belongs to Nakamura vs. Zayn from Dallas. Main event was good, and I like the Cena tag match.

Good stuff. Check it out!
