**Random Thoughts**

They had to mention that fucking tater tots line didn’t they?

The main event was entertaining. Both guys have their critics, but they deserve the credit for their workrate. I thought Reigns would get heat from the crowd but that wasn’t the case at all. The Samoan Drop through the ladder was an awesome sight. Where were Roman’s allies during the attack from Del Rio & Rusev? (come to think of it, where was Barrett?) It made the last few weeks pointless if his crew isn’t going to back him up when he’s getting attacked. Aside from that, it was a good match. Better than expected.

On the subject of Reigns, the beat down on Triple H was perfect. That’s how you should book Reigns. He’s a tough guy, he’s there to kick ass not to cut corny promos about smuggling tater tots. Listen to the crowd. They were fully behind him. Let’s just hope that can continue to work on that going forward.

I’m surprised that Ambrose won the title. I was convinced that the plan was to have Owens drop the title at WrestleMania to Sami Zayn. I guess that isn’t the case anymore as they want to keep Zayn on NXT. The match itself was good, a longer match would have been better but they worked well within the ten minutes they were allotted.

Kalistro was the star performer. That Salida Del Sol off the top of the ladder was mental. It’s not easy trying to come up with anything original in ladder matches because we’ve seen so many of them in the last twenty years or so, but that came out of nowhere. All six performers must have done their homework as they all came up with creative ways to use the ladder as an offensive weapon. Having a match of this quality as an opener is a great way to kick off the show!

The eight man tag match was a nice throwback to the late 90’s hardcore style of wrestling. The result was predictable with the veterans being used to put the younger guys over. The question going into this match was which members of the Wyatt Family would survive? Bray and Strowman were locked in, but nice to see Harper surviving too. WWE must still see something in him. The win re-established the Wyatts as a strong, dominant unit after losing to Undertaker and Kane at Survivor Series last month.

I had little interest in Rusev v Ryback & the US title match. The US title match was entertaining in some parts, but the latter wasn’t. I don’t think the chairs were used effectively. They could have had Swagger attack Del Rio’s ankle with a chair to make it appear that a title change could happen. The outcome was obvious because Swagger is hardly used on television anymore and that’s a shame because Swagger is an amazing talent.

The Divas match just fell flat for me. It was okay, but hard for the crowd to get into it. I have a feeling that they wanted to make Charlotte the centrepiece of the Divas division because of her dad (who is Ric Flair by the way, not as if it’s mentioned 1537403546656 times whenever she makes an appearance on TV) and make her this noble, fighting champion. Now she cheats all the time. I liked her heel stuff on NXT so it maybe the best for her in the long run. Where will this lead to? I can’t help but feel that we may see a fatal four way at WrestleMania between the four horsewomen.

Overall show rating (out of 10): 7
This show was better than expected. Sure we all mock WWE for its lame booking and storylines, but they have a very talented roster. I’m sure that once the creative side is cleared up, everything else will just click into place.
