**Random Thoughts**

Right off the bat I want to say that the crowd were in full swing despite the alleged terror threats from ISIS. People shouldn’t live their lives in fear, by doing that you’re letting the terrorists win. Good on you, Atlanta.

Goldust made his return………on the pre-show. Why not do it on the main card? Why not even advertise the match? They didn’t have to necessary advertise Goldust’s appearance just bill it as a mystery opponent.

The big news coming from this show was Sheamus winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. I’m a little surprised by it because Sheamus has been booked poorly for months and having him cash in last night was a stupid decision. I don’t have a problem with Sheamus at all. He’s a solid worker when he works long matches. It’s just that he has lost so many matches including a match in the opening round of this tournament and a match at Survivor Series too. He hasn’t been booked to look like a winner for the past five months. I wish him well, but WWE will have their work cut out to make him a believable champion.

The tournament matches were okay I thought. The Ambrose/Owens match was a great match which I enjoyed very much. Owens was hilarious with his trash talk (“Chinlock city, baby”) and Ambrose finding a way to win was the right story. Reigns and Del Rio was an interesting one because you had the same fans booing Reigns and chanting about how he sucked ended up chanting “this is awesome” for the nearfalls. This demonstrates the work Reigns and Del Rio put in to win over the crowd.

I was surprised about how short the final was. Reigns winning didn’t surprised me, but the fact that it only lasted 10 minutes did. It would have made that Reigns moment feel like a bigger deal had they opted for a 20 minute classic with a lot of nearfalls and special moments for both guys. Having it end so early, and bringing out Triple H, made me think that there would be a MITB cash in due to how much time was left.

Xavier Woods’ hair was hilarious. Seriously, New Day can turn anything into comedy gold. I might as well let the cat out the bag and announce that New Day are my pick for tag team of the year.

There wasn’t much of a crowd reaction for the ten man tag match because they didn’t care to promote the match by announcing any of the participants. I know Sheamus won the title at the end, but here he was made to look like a loser. Barrett losing so early was pretty bad too. WWE is sorely lacking in top level heels and they don’t book them right even when it would make sense to do so.

The divas match seemed off to me. Charlotte should have been more aggressive here as she’d be looking to get revenge on Paige for the comments she made about Reid. That big spot by the barricade gain little to no reaction. I felt bad for them because they worked their asses off and were given a lot of time. I thought it might be a disqualification win for Paige in order to keep the feud going, but that didn’t happen. I still think a re-match could take place at TLC though.

The BOD/Wyatt Family tag match was standard. Undertaker getting in all his signature spots was expected as was Luke Harper taking the fall for his team. The Wyatt Family could do with some wins because it’s hard to accept Bray Wyatt as ‘the new face of fear’ when he’s lost a ton of PPV matches this year. They protected Strowman by not putting him in the match. People may argue and say that putting him through a table buried him. I disagree. It took two guys to do it and how often do you see that happening? JBL mentioned that we may never see Undertaker & Kane together again after this; I think he’s right about that. I’m convinced that Undertaker will retire at WrestleMania, so we should enjoy it while he’s still around.

Tyler Breeze winning isn’t a shocker since it’s his PPV debut. You can forget about seeing Dolph Ziggler ever becoming a consistent main eventer. WWE sees him as the reliable guy who can put on good matches with anyone. He’s come out and said that he’s only got two years left him at best. It’s a shame because Ziggler has all the tools to become a major face in the WWE.

Overall Show Rating (out of 10): 5
It was a very average show. The first two matches were great; everything that followed was just okay. This show could have been a lot better, but I don’t think creative are doing a good job right now. Quite frankly I think they’ve burnt out. The product is stale and I just hope things pick up in the New Year and something happens to get people excited in time for WrestleMania season.
