**Random Thoughts**

The big news coming out of the show is the apparent neck injury that Sting suffered. It occurred just after Rollins powerbombed Sting into the corner, doctors checked up on him but Sting was struggling to stand up afterwards. The spot on the Spanish announce table didn’t help either as Sting hit his head off a television monitor. Rollins time by taunting the crowd. Once Sting regained his bearings, they both quickly jumped straight to the finish. Dave Meltzer is reporting the injury to be ‘career ending’. More information will be released in due course, but if it is as serious as what Meltzer is saying then that’s a crying shame. Sting is the one guy that WWE fans have been wishing to see compete in a WWE ring and now his career is potentially over due to injury. As uneventfully as his WWE run as been so far, I’m just glad that Sting has appeared on WWE programming. Let’s just hope the injury isn’t as bad as predicted!

If I were to award a star of the show award to anyone it would be Seth Rollins. Hands down! He was an absolute machine, putting on two great performances and bumping like crazy to make his two opponents look good. His match against Cena was as expected. A straight up, no bullshit contest between two guys who know each other well and they just click whenever they get the chance to work with one another. Any worries about Rollins dropping the title before WrestleMania should be put to bed now. He deserves the opportunity to main event the biggest show of the year.

FINALLY, Nikki Bella has LOST the Divas Championship. They played up the victory well and the emotion shared by Charlotte and Ric Flair was genuine. I’ve never been shy about sharing my negative views on the Bella Twins but they have improved as in-ring performers over the past year, they deserve to be praised in that regard.

Rusev lost because Summer Rae threw a shoe at him……..just let that sink in.

Also in that very same match, did you notice that Dolph Ziggler had a picture of Lana on the crotch of his tights? That isn’t P.G!

Yet another security blunder as yet again another fan got past the security and into the ring. It was prior to the six man tag match before the mystery opponent was revealed. People have been ripping on the security at live events as of late but it’s hard to do your job when you’re told not to be seen on camera. It makes you stuck in a position that limits you from getting to dickheads like this in time. I expect security to tighten up going forward.

It worth mentioning that these fan incidents have one thing in common, they’ve all been targeting former members of the Shield. Someone threw a replica Money in the Bank briefcase at Reigns, a fan tried to attack Ambrose at a Smackdown taping, and a fan walked the ramp alongside Seth Rollins. It’s worth throwing that out there. I can also see WWE putting a stop to Reigns’ entrance through the crowd.

I was legit surprised to see Chris Jericho return last night, and I’m also intrigued about his future too. After the match, Reigns & Ambrose checked on Jericho, who took the fall for the team to Braun Strowman. Jericho shoved his way through them whiles shoulder bumping into Ambrose. Jericho will be 45 this year (seriously) and he has always gone on record to say that he wants to retire as a heel. I’m connecting the dots here and it does add up. A Jericho/Ambrose feud does intrigue me

New Day Rocks! They are my pick for tag team of the year and rightfully so because they are so entertaining at what they do. Watch their ‘Table for Three’ episode on the WWE Network. The three of them are as close as family and it pays off in their work. Xavier Woods is fucking hysterical with his trombone. Some people think the use of a trombone is annoying but aren’t the bad guys supposed to annoy you? There was a part in the match where Big E tried to get Bubba with the apron smash. Woods asked, “Jesus Jones are you okay, Bubba?” That was funny. The whole “Save the Tables” promo beforehand was equally hysterical.

Chuffed to bits with Owens winning the Intercontinental title. He was as solid as always and worked to Ryback’s strengths. Owens continued to work on Ryback’s arm throughout and I though he did a great job of selling the pain considering how hard it is for big guys to be believable sellers in matches. Owens said that he didn’t care about the belt and was only interested in the money but I appreciated him acting like he accomplished something post match. People moaned about Owens not defeating Cena for the US title, with respect to the US title, winning the intercontinental championship is a much bigger deal in my opinion. Kevin Owens can do to the Intercontinental title what John Cena has done for the United States title and giving him a championship as protégés as the IC title is a clear indication that Vince has a ton of believe in the guy.

Overall show rating (out of 10): 6
I enjoyed the show. There wasn’t anything that was bad, Cena v Rollins was outstanding and we got some title changes on the show which made Night of Champions feel like an important event. I wasn’t a fan of the finish for Rusev & Ziggler as it made Rusev look weak because he lost the match due to being hit with a shoe. Other than that, Night of Champions is a show worth watching.
