WWE SummerSlam 2015 Prediction Contest

Summerslam15

This year’s SummerSlam is the longest in history as it’s going to be four hours long and is stacked with ten matches. I don’t mind the four hours. Going four hours is perfectly fine for SummerSlam and WrestleMania. The main event sees a WrestleMania rematch between Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker and a semi main event is the title for title match involving Seth Rollins and John Cena.

This is a part of our ongoing prediction contest and the league table is as followed:
1. RIF – 96pts
2. Joe & Michael – 84pts
3. Dan – 75pts

It’s all to play for with time running out so points are critical at this stage in the competition.

Pre Show
WWE Tag Team Championship
Los Matadores vs. Prime Time Players © vs. New Day vs. Lucha Dragons
RIF: New Day
Joe: New Day
Michael: New Day
Dan: New Day
The New Day are among my favourite acts in the WWE, so I want them to develop even more like being be involved in longer matches and cutting meaningful promos. They are the best team in the division right now, so I’d put the titles on them and have them feud with the Usos once Jey returns from the sidelines. It wouldn’t shock me if the Prime Time Players retain as they are (midly) over with the fans. So come on Brooklyn, don’t be sour. Clap for the new Tag Champs and FEEL DA POWER!!

Dolph Ziggler vs. Rusev
RIF: Rusev
Joe: Rusev
Michael: Rusev
Dan: Dolph Ziggler
I like all four people involved, but something isn’t right. Something isn’t clicking. Since losing to that John Cena kid, Rusev has undergone some quality character development. He’s talented for a big guy and it be a shame if WWE lost faith in him after building him strong for the majority of the last year and this. I think Rusev will win here and at Night of Champions they can do a mixed tag match with both Summer Rae and Lana getting added to the mix.

Team Bella (Nikki Bella, Brie Bella & Alicia Fox) vs. Team B.A.D (Sasha Banks, Naomi & Tamina) vs. Team PCB (Paige, Charlotte & Becky Lynch)
RIF: Team PCB
Joe: Team BAD
Michael: Team PCB
Dan: Team Bella
What happened to the name ‘Submission Sorority’? That was a lovely name. I guess it’s because it never had the word ‘Team’ in the name. Yeah that’s it!  Thanks to that awesome Bayley vs. Sasha Banks match from last night the pressure is well and truly on for these girls to deliver. It’s going to be interesting to see how the match plays out with the three teams involved. Having Banks, Lynch and Charlotte on the main roster has boosted the profile of the divas main roster and now diva main roster is something that you much see much like WCWs cruiserweight division back in the day. I think Team BAD will be eliminated first with Naomi or Tamina taking the fall since they want to protect Banks, which is a smart move. Charlotte will be booked the strongest here so she can take the title away from Nikki at Night of Champions.

Kevin Owens vs. Cesaro
RIF: Kevin Owens
Joe: Kevin Owens
Michael: Cesaro
Dan: Cesaro
Both Kevin Owens and Cesaro have come a long way in their careers and here they are having a meaningful match on one of the WWE’s most famous pay per views. Both guys deserve to win but only one can and I’m going with KO himself. He’s slipped up since the Cena feud and lost last night at Takeover, so the win over Cesaro will put him back on track. Give them 15-20 minutes. I hope they do because if they get the much time then I’m sure we’ll be watching a match of the night/year contender right here!

Stephen “Arrow” Amell & Neville vs. Stardust & King Barrett
RIF: Arrow & Neville
Joe: Arrow & Neville
Michael: Arrow & Neville
Dan: Arrow & Neville
I’m interested to see how Amell will cope in the ring. There’s been pictures surfacing online of him training at the Performance Centre training so he’s taking it seriously unlike certain other celebrities I know *COUGH*WWEHALLOFFAMERDREWCARREY*COUGH*. I don’t mind the celebrity involvement when they have some degree of athleticism and respect the business. Some celebrities treat it like a joke or have no idea what they’re doing *COUGH*JEREMEYSUMMERFESTPIVEN*COUGH*. Amell looks right at home. To make things that little bit sweeter, Amell has confirmed that he’ll be wearing the Green Arrow costume. 2K Sports have yet to confirm Arrow’s involvement in WWE 2K17. Is it just me but King Barrett’s involvement seems random? Nev and Arrow to win because let’s face it, Arrow hasn’t come here to lose, you could say he’s not here to ‘fail this city’…..I’ll see myself out….

Roman Reigns & Dean Ambrose vs. Bray Wyatt & Luke Harper
RIF: Bray Wyatt & Luke Harper
Joe: Bray Wyatt & Luke Harper
Michael: Roman Reigns & Dean Ambrose
Dan: Roman Reigns & Dean Ambrose
It’s a shame that Erick Rowan got himself injured. It was heavily rumoured that had Rowan still been around this would have been a six man tag with Sting teaming up Reigns & Ambrose. This should be a solid brawl, and if it does, it is going to be one of the better matches on the show. There has been reports regarding a Dean Ambrose heel turn, will it happen? I don’t think so. They’ll tease it for sure and then pull the trigger the next night on Raw.

WWE Intercontinental Championship
Big Show vs. The Ryback © vs. Miz
RIF: The Ryback
Joe: Big Show
Michael: The Ryback
Dan: Big Show
The Intercontinental title has been somewhat or a curse with people getting injured or booked poorly. Personally feelings aside, I feel that The Ryback has improved and he deserves credit for working hard after his fall from grace last year. Miz seems out of place here after he lost The Ryback in two minutes on Raw and Big Show is just there to put The Ryback over. Please keep this under ten minutes, thanks. I’m referring to Ryback as ‘The Ryback’ in honour of Daniel Bryan, his presence has been missed a lot this year.

Randy Orton vs. Sheamus
RIF: Sheamus
Joe: Randy Orton
Michael: Randy Orton
Dan: Sheamus
The never-ending feud. I’m tired of this feud and seeing these guys wrestle all the time, but WWE just loves going back to it again and again. I have a feeling that the Brooklyn crowd will feel the same way too so expect a lot of ‘JBL’, ‘Michael Cole’ and ‘Jerry Lawler’ chants throughout this match. Got nothing personal against these guys, just tired of seeing them wrestle each other all the time. They’ll probably want Sheamus to win here since Orton won at Battleground. I think Sheamus will cheat to win (thank you Eddie) and win himself some much needed momentum.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship/ WWE United States Championship
Seth Rollins (WHC) vs. John Cena (US)
RIF: John Cena (via Disqualification)
Joe: Seth Rollins
Michael: John Cena
Dan: John Cena
I can imagine that a lot of grown men were sobbing their eyes out when it was announced that this would be title for title. With this match not being the main event it makes it okay for it not to have a clear winner. I can’t imagine Cena or Rollins walking away with two titles so a DQ ending looks likely. Another sign is the new John Cena shirt that says 15x on them. Why release a 15x shirt when it’s possible that he can become a 16 time world champion? Rollins can get himself disqualified and cost Cena the US title in one of his open challenges and they can have a re-match at Night of Champions where Rollins will get a clean victory over Cena. There’s a very slim chance of Sheamus cashing in, but I can’t see that happening. Cena wins lol……..via DQ of course.

Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar
RIF: Brock Lesnar
Joe: Undertaker
Michael: Brock Lesnar
Dan: Undertaker
The build-up has been there, but I have my doubts about the quality. I hope I’m wrong, but it remains to be seen. I’m interested in the crowd’s response to Undertaker. Will he be booed? Yes, but it won’t be loud boos. I just think that people will find it hard to boo someone as legendary as the Undertaker but it will be interesting hearing the boos as Undertaker is one of those guys who always gets the loud ovations. He’s too respected to be hated. Saying that, I reckon Brock will get positive reactions throughout. If Undertaker wins then that means we’ll see another match at WrestleMania 32. Undertaker isn’t going to win and that’s thanks to a certain somebody who is mentioned in the tie breaker section below.

**Tie Breakers**
Who will be involved in the fall for the “Arrow” tag match? (1.5pt per correct answer)
RIF: Arrow > Stardust
Joe: Arrow > BNB
Michael: Neville > Stardust
Dan: Neville > BNB
I can’t look beyond Stephen Amell to be involved in the fall. Future member of the celebrity wing of the WWE Hall of Fame.

Will Sting appear?
RIF: Yes
Joe: Yes
Michael: Yes
Dan: Yes
He’s doing meet & greets over the weekend so an appearance is highly possible. If he were to appear then he needs to be the heel and cost Undertaker victory against Brock. Sting could use the reason that he was disappointed that Undertaker remained loyal to WWE during the Monday Night Wars and didn’t jump ship to WCW. He could also talk about being jealous that he lost at WrestleMania whiles Undertaker returned to winning ways after his shocking WM30 loss. Sting could also attack Brock claiming that he should have been the one to beat Undertaker at WrestleMania but Brock took that away from him. Doing this will plant the seeds for the rumoured WrestleMania 32 match which will no doubt be a double retirement for both guys.

Enjoy SummerSlam, guys. Feel free to leave your predictions in the comment section below.
