Random Thoughts

Right off the bat, the Dusty tribute was well done. A lot of the guys were very emotional, especially the NXT guys like Emma & Paige, because Rhodes was so instrumental in their development. The video package was also touching. If you haven’t read my tribute blog on Dusty, check it out. He will be missed. RIP Dream, thank you for the memories.

John Cena vs. Kevin Owens is my match of the year as things stand. Better than the match from Elimination Chamber. What a fantastic match. They did some of the same spots from the first match, but were able to mix in some believable nearfalls to keep the fans on the edge of their seats. The announcers put over how much of a classic this was and it was exactly that. One of the best matches in Cena’s career whiles Owens proves that he belongs on the main stage. I was on the fence over who would win, I went for Owens, but I see why they went with Cena. Not only is this match of the year, Cena vs. Owens is also becoming my pick for feud of the year.

Be honest, who saw Sheamus winning the MITB? I certainly didn’t, and if anyone says otherwise then they’re telling porkies. Now Reigns will be dealing with Bray now that he’s out of the title picture. Question is how and when will Sheamus cash in? That should be interesting to see unfold.

As for the MITB match itself, it served its purpose.  Wasn’t a particular violent ladder match as there wasn’t a ton of crazy spots, but the RKO on Neville was certainly one for the highlight wheel.

Less said about Ryback & Big Show the better. My moneys on a triple threat match at Battleground with the Miz being thrown in or maybe the return of ShowMiz. Make it happen, Vince!

I don’t have a problem with the Prime Time Players winning the tag belts since they really deserve it. First time they’ve won the gold so I’m happy for the guys. Wish the feud had more depth to it, but I can see it continuing with the New Day eventually winning back the belts.

Seeing Brie explain that she has smaller boobs than her sister and lowering her briefs to expose her tattoo was a very unique finish. Both Nikki & Paige worked hard, just didn’t like the finish.

The main event was solid with a unique finish that showcases how reluctant WWE want to make Rollins presented as a strong champion. It lacked that little something extra I thought. It was too long at 36 minutes and you could hear the silence coming from the crowd. They were tired and so was I. I enjoy both guys immensely and I will give them credit for putting on a solid, entertaining bout just could have done with 10 minutes being cut from it. I would have booked it where Rollins won more decisively. I would have ended the match after when he hit the TV monitor off Ambrose’s knee (who I must say did a great job of selling the injury).

Overall Show Rating (out of 10): 6.5

Decent show which could have done with better booking for the finishes. That’s what hurt the show for me. However, Cena vs. Owens is a match that you must watch. The best match in the WWE of 2015. I’m so looking forward to the 3rd match. Kevin Owens is a guy that isn’t out to please or to be cool. He turns up, fights and leaves. Enough said!

Wyatt’s attack on Reigns sets up a feud between the two, which I didn’t see coming as I could only see one outcome and that was Roman Reigns becoming Mr Money in the Bank.

I didn’t mind the finish for the main event, just wished that Rollins was made to look like a strong champion rather than someone who gets lucky.

Other than that, everything else was average.
