WWE Extreme Rules Prediction Contest

The annual post WrestleMania show takes place in Chicago this Sunday night. The main event sees WWE Champion Seth Rollins putting his title on the line against Randy Orton inside a 15 foot high Steel Cage. The rest of the build has been neither here nor there. The John Cena & Rusev feels stale at this point, with this being their third consecutive PPV match.  Roman Reigns has caught a bit of momentum back, but putting against him Big Show again is an unbelievably bad decision. Ziggler vs Sheamus has promise, but it hasn’t been built all that strongly. The “Kiss Me Arse” stipulation is so damn silly. I’ll go more in depth when I get round to it.

We’ve made the decision not to predict the outcome of the Intercontinental championship match between Daniel Bryan and Bad News Barrett due to the uncertainty surrounding Bryan’s in-ring status. I can imagine Barrett making an open challenge which will be answered by Neville just so we’re not losing out on a match.

The league table after three pay per views is as follow:

  1. RIF-45pts
  2. Dan -39pts
  3. Michael -33pts
  4. Joe-30pts

Pre Show

WWE Tag Team Championship

Cesaro & Tyson Kidd © vs. The New Day (Big E & Kofi Kingston)

RIF: Kidd & Cesaro

Michael: New Day

Dan: Kidd & Cesaro

Joe: New Day

Are Cesaro and Kidd faces long term or just for this match? I don’t really know yet. I think it’s just for this match because WWE knows they are going to get cheered by the hardcore fans in Chicago. I like how things are going for New Day, but I do feel bad for them. They try too hard to get the fans to cheer for them but it comes off as false and as a result they chant “New Day suck”. Let them be themselves. If you follow any of these guys on Twitter then you’ll know how funny they are. Let’s hope the inedible heel turn gives them the shot in the arm they so desperately need.  They can wait on doing a title change for another month or two. Cesaro and Kidd are an awesome team that will get the win to continue their reign as the tag team champions.

Chicago Street Fight

Dean Ambrose vs. Luke Harper

RIF: Dean Ambrose

Michael: Dean Ambrose

Dan: Luke Harper

Joe: Dean Ambrose

Given the two talents involved this could very well be the match of the night. Since it’s not a loaded card in terms of long matches, it might be best if WWE puts this on as the PPV opener, gives them 15-20 minutes and watch as they brawl all around the arena. Both guys were working together on the recent European tour to positive reviews. The chemistry is there. I’m confident they’ll raise their game at Extreme Rules. Ambrose is super creative in a setting like this and the big man Harper is quality brawler. I can vision Ambrose winning with an innovative finish spot with a weapon that will put down Harper for the 1-2-3. Let’s hope both guys gain something from this as they truly deserve it.

Last Man Standing

Roman Reigns vs. Big Show

RIF: Roman Reigns

Michael: Roman Reigns

Dan: Big Show

Joe: Big Show

I’m tired of this feud already. Reigns has beat Big Show so many times over the last few months and Reigns has picked up the win countless of times. WWE tries to make out that Big Show is this dominant heel, but we’ve seen Reigns beat him far too many times which makes him far from dominant. There’s only so many times I can watch somebody overcome the sheer size of Big Show and be impressed by it. So many guys have done it, including Roman Reigns, that I just feel insulted by the announcers trying to tell me that Big Show has no equal. On the plus side, they’ll be using weapons for the match will help them tell a story where Reigns has to come back to beat the ‘dominant’ giant. You’ve gotta make that Roman Reigns look strong fella!

WWE Divas Championship

Nikki Bella © vs. Naomi

RIF: Naomi

Michael: Nikki Bella

Dan: Naomi

Joe: Nikki Bella

I liked Naomi’s heel turn. Her reasons behind the turn made sense. She pinned the Divas champion twice yet had to compete in a number one contender’s match only to lose. I always believe that a heel should have a reason for their actions; no matter how ridiculous they made be. The Bella Twins on the other hand are now babyfaces. Just like that! Why are we supposed to cheer for these two who have been nothing but awful to everyone over the course of the last year, including to each other (you do remember that god awful Bella Twin feud from last year right?) I hate it when WWE do that, its lazy booking! I’m still trying to work out if Alicia Fox is heel or face! It may be the right time to do a title change because if Nikki’s going to be a face then it’s better if Naomi wins the Title for the first time and then has that feud with Paige, which was set up when she “injured” her. It will probably get the around  7-10 minutes and I believe Naomi will win the Divas Title for the first time.

Kiss Me Arse match

Dolph Ziggler vs. Sheamus

RIF: Sheamus

Michael: Sheamus

Dan: Dolph Ziggler

Joe: Dolph Ziggler

I was actually at the Smackdown TV tapings down London when this match was announced. You should have heard the groans when Sheamus laid down the challenge.  It’s a promising feud with the potential to develop into the next pay per view, but this is a silly stipulation. Both guys have gelled well together in the past so I’ve got no worries regarding the quality of the match. Will they really have a guy kiss someone’s arse? Will Sheamus pull down his trunks to expose his pale bum (that isn’t PG)? Probably not. Sheamus should win since he’s fresh as a heel. Ziggler definitely needs wins, but in this case it makes sense to put Sheamus over. They will probably do something where Sheamus tries to make Ziggler kiss his ass in a humiliating way and then somebody either saves Ziggler or he attacks Sheamus to prevent it from happening. I’m not sure how it’s going to go down, but Sheamus winning makes the most sense to me.

WWE United States Championship

Russian Chain Match

John Cena © vs. Rusev

RIF: John Cena

Michael: John Cena

Dan: John Cena

Joe: John Cena

At this point the feud between Cena & Rusev is stale. It’s likely to be the blow off match for their feud, anything else would be overkill and unnecessary. Cena will win. Anything else would be a major shock. Do you honestly think they’ll take the title off him after a month? He’s doing great as champion and those open challenges are welcoming. It’s helping to restore some much needed protégé into the title after being treated like a prop for so long and it’s going to be a hell of a deal for when the time comes to make the title switch (my money is on Kevin Owens btw). It’s also keeping out of the WWE title picture which is a positive.  It’s obvious why WWE is making this a chain-match. They don’t want Rusev to get pinned for the second straight PPV, so this way they can book him in a competitive match and lose only because Cena touched the turnbuckles first. My feeling is Cena wins a close match rather than something where he dominates at the end for the win. Another big lock of the show.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship

Randy Orton vs. Seth Rollins ©

RIF: Seth Rollins

Michael: Seth Rollins

Dan: Seth Rollins

Joe: Seth Rollins

Just like the Last Man Standing and Russian Chain matches, Seth Rollins winning is the third biggest lock at Extreme Rules. He’s going to have a lengthy title run whether you like it or not. Based on the last few weeks, Kane is going to act like he’s not really on Rollins’ side as the “guardian of the gate” in the match and then in the end when Rollins wants him to cheat, Kane will do it to show that he’s still on the same page with Rollins. Not that he wants to do it, but he feels as though he has to do it. They can save the Kane face turn for another time, but I think he’s going to remain a heel here. This one should get around 25 minutes; in fact, they should get that amount of time. If their WrestleMania match is anything to go by then they’ve warrant it. Orton is going to look like an idiot thinking that there won’t be interference because there’s a cage. It’s not like Rollins is going to win clean, so that’s the way it has to go.

*Tie Breaker*

What will be the opening match?

RIF: Street Fight

Michael: Street Fight

Dan: Kiss Me Arse

Joe: Last Man Standing

I can’t look beyond the Street Fight in all honesty. Seems to be the most ideal match for an opener.

Enjoy Extreme Rules guys, feel free to post your predictions in the comments below.
