**Random Thoughts**

  • I’m not surprised by Roman Reigns winning the Royal Rumble but I am surprised with Daniel Bryan being eliminated very early on. He entered the match as the #10 entrant and was the 11th person to be eliminated. That wasn’t the right call. The fans hated it. I did too. My understanding is that WWE wanted him out way before Roman Reigns entered the match. That strategy clearly didn’t work. I’m not a Roman hater, he’s got talent I admit, but he isn’t ready for the main event spot just yet. The smart decision would have been Daniel Bryan winning the Rumble and writing the wrongs of last year’s event. It would have made sense considering that he overcame a career threatening injury and everybody loves a comeback story right? A missed opportunity.
  • The standout star of the Rumble has got to be Bray Wyatt. He was booked strong for most of it, but then he got dumped out so easily by Kane & Big Show which made him look weak. Bray hasn’t been utilised properly in recent weeks and his performance could very well be the platform he can build upon heading into WrestleMania.
  • Speaking about WrestleMania, they teased a potential match between Rusev and John Cena on the fallout show. It was bound to happen one day, but it begs the question, “Will John Cena be the first guy to defeat Rusev?” Hopefully not. Cena won’t gain anything from it. Let someone like Dean Ambrose or Dolph Ziggler beat him.
  • Nice to see Bubba Ray Dudley and Diamond Dallas Page make appearances (Couldn’t care less about The Boogeyman). Shame D-Von didn’t appear, would have been nice to see them perform the 3D rather than Bubba & R-Truth. Would I like to see the Dudley Boys return? Yes. They could play either the role of a veteran babyface tag team or henchmen for Paul Heyman once Brock Lesnar leaves.
  • What can I say about that triple threat match? It was simply phenomenal. It’s tough to explain how amazing it was, but if you saw it then you know. Brock was booked to perfection. He stood up immediately after two Attitude Adjustments! That’s unheard of! I wish there weren’t any limitations regarding his appearances because Brock is an unbelievable talented athlete. I’ve always said way back in the early days of the Shield that Seth Rollins is a big time star for the present as well as the future. He proved it again last night. It’s only a matter of time before we christen him as the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. At the end of the day, I loved this match. It’s a WWE Match of the Year contender for sure. Don’t forget about it in December in time for the Rif Rasslin Awards.
  • The seeds have been planted for the Miz/ Mizdow split. They had a great run but it’s starting to run its course. Be interesting to see Sandow perform as a face.
  • Regarding the post match stuff and The Rock showing up, I look at it like this: Basically WWE knew Reigns would get booed, still put him out there and then called Rock so people would cheer. It’s sad that they have to go those lengths. They should know that fans were going to reject Reigns and change the decision. Put Bryan over. Instead, they ignored what the fans wanted for the second year in a row. Question remains, will Rocky appear at WrestleMania? Who knows?

Overall Show Rating (Out of 10): 4

Maybe I’m being too nice but that’s how I feel. The WWE Title match was a Match of the Year contender that I want to watch again. The Kickoff Match was the second best match. Everything else was below average. For the second year in a row, WWE ignores the fans which has resulted in them cancelling their WWE Network subscription in their droves. When will they ever learn to listen?
