WWE Survivor Series 2014 Prediction Contest

I’ve always thought in recent times that Survivor Series has lacked that little something that made it so huge during the early days. The 8 man tag gimmick seems to be obsolete these days and it takes away what made Survivor Series so great in the first place. If I were in charge (another column for another day) I would take Survivor Series back to basics and make it a must see show once again. It’s a big show in the sense that WWE has promoting the Network for free this month (I live in the UK so I’m pretty pissed about that) so they are hoping to attract more subscribers and it’s been heavily rumoured that a certain somebody is set to make his debut.  Brock Lesnar, the WWE Champion, will miss the show so everything has been centred around John Cena and the Authority whiles everything else, bar Dean Ambrose vs. Bray Wyatt, has been clumped together at the last second.

As always, this is a prediction contest and this is our league table so far:

RIF – 170.5pts

Michael – 154.5pts

Dan – 151.5pts

Joe – 142pts

This one is far all the marbles. Only one show left after this and I could very well end up making it three times in a row! Will I? Of course I will!

Pre Show

Fandango vs. A Mystery Opponent

RIF: Mystery Opponent

Joe: Mystery Opponent

Mich: Mystery Opponent

Dan: Mystery Opponent

Fandango has been billed as the “new & improved” Fandango plus he has Rosa Mendes in his corner. She needs to do something now that she’s a Total Diva! I’m going for the Mystery Opponent since the faces usually do well on these shows. Who is the mystery opponent? Check out our tie breaker questions.

Alicia Fox, Emma, Naomi & Natalya vs. Paige, Cameron, Layla & Summer Rae

RIF: Alicia Fox, Emma, Naomi & Natalya

Joe: Alicia Fox, Emma, Naomi & Natalya

Mich: Alicia Fox, Emma, Naomi & Natalya

Dan: Alicia Fox, Emma, Naomi & Natalya

WWE had four weeks to build this match and they’ve done nothing. I’m going with the faces/ good girls to win this one. I do expect the usual routine where everyone hits their finisher on each other. Seems like a tradition.

WWE Tag Team Championship

Goldust & Stardust © vs. The Usos vs. Los Matadores vs. The Miz & Damien Mizdow

RIF: Goldust & Stardust

Joe: The Usos

Mich: Goldust & Stardust

Dan: Goldust & Stardust

A part of me would love to see Miz & Mizdow win just so Miz can hold the two belts whiles Mizdow holds two toy replica belts. Pretty hilarious sight to see. In all seriousness, I don’t mind Gold & Stardust retaining the titles. I can’t see they dropping the titles here, but I can see them dropping the titles to The Ascention in early 2015. As for the Miz Team, Miz could blame Mizdow for the loss which will lead to the Sandow face turn.

Bray Wyatt vs. Dean Ambrose

RIF: Bray Wyatt

Joe: Dean Ambrose

Mich: Bray Wyatt

Dan: Dean Ambrose

I can see this going around 15-20 minutes but a part of me would like to see some sort of stipulation added to this like a no holds barred or street fight as it suits both guy’s styles/ personas. Maybe they are reserving that for later, who knows? TLC maybe because they usually go gimmick heavy for that one. Ambrose is really liked by the fans although it seems to have tapered off a bit in the past month since he’s not working with Orton or Cena right now. Wyatt has proven he’s belonged all year long. It’s weird that Wyatt’s in the second biggest match and his two Wyatt Family buddies are in the main event. Hell, Luke Harper is even the Intercontinental Champion! Poor Bray. His time will come. He’s a future World Champion, as is Dean Ambrose!

WWE Divas Championship

AJ Lee © vs. Nikki Bella

RIF: Nikki Bella

Joe: Nikki Bella

Mich: Nikki Bella

Dan: Nikki Bella

At least this feud has received some TV time. Brie will be in her sister’s corner as punishment for losing to her at Hell in a Cell. Thankfully they haven’t gone overload (or Brie Mode) with a lot of wacky segments between the sisters, so that’s a good thing. They could either have Brie accidentally cost Nikki the match by not helping her the right way or perhaps Brie will help Nikki win because she’s forced to do it. I actually don’t mind Nikki as a heel. She’s way better at it then when she’s a face. Still a bad actress though! If AJ keeps it then she’s not going to have enough opponents to feud with. Rumour going around that AJ is leaving the company after the show so she can start a family with that dude who loves Pepsi. The fans don’t appreciate her anyway. They all want to be obnoxious and chant her husband’s name when she’s in the ring. As for Brie, she’s going to win the Divas title at WrestleMania, guaranteed!

Team Cena (John Cena, Dolph Ziggler, Big Show, Erick Rowan & Ryback) vs. Team Authority (Seth Rollins, Kane, Mark Henry, Rusev & Luke Harper)

RIF: Team Cena

Joe: Team Cena

Mich: Team Authority

Dan: Team Cena

I was in two minds about this when it was first booked but once they added the stipulation of John Cena’s teammates getting fired if they don’t win pretty much cemented it for me. How can they justify sacking four people where three of them are top level stars (sorry Erick)? I’m interested in how Rusev is booked. He hasn’t been pinned or submitted while on the main roster although he has lost by disqualification before. They shouldn’t pin him in this match. Will Cena interact with him or are they saving it? I’m definitely going to keep an eye on those kinds of things. My guess is he’ll lose by DQ or countout while brawling with Big Show or maybe even Rowan. Some people have mentioned that Triple H isn’t in the match and wondering why that is. I think it’s because they’re going to use him to interfere. Then somebody comes out to prevent him from doing so, which then opens the door for the faces to win. If you know who the rumored surprise is, he’d be the perfect guy for it. Ryback is going to be booked strong much like the way Roman Reigns was last year. I’m going to stick it on the line and suggest that he’ll eliminate at least three people from the Authority (Kane, Harper and Mark Henry. Rusev at a push). In the end, I’m going with Cena’s team. The “look strong on TV, lose on PPV” theory is in full effect since The Authority put on a massive beating at the end of Smackdown. They really put the focus on Triple H targeting Ryback, which again backs up my opinion regarding Ryback looking really strong here. There will be a new GM or matchmaker person soon but don’t be surprised if Triple H re-appears in time for WrestleMania season.

**Tie Breakers**

Who will be the first person eliminated from the 10 man tag match?

RIF: Erick Rowan

Joe: Erick Rowan

Mich: Luke Harper

Dan: Dolph Ziggler

Shot in the dark. Rowan and Harper are the weak links in terms of star power so I can see either one of them leaving early on. Anyone else will be a surprise.

Who will be Fandango’s mystery opponent?

RIF: Sami Zayn

Joe: Bad News Barrett

Mich: Sami Zayn

Dan: Sami Zayn

Originally, I was going to say Bad News Barrett. He’s set to appear on the pre show in some capacity. The more I think about it, the more I start thinking that it’s going to be Sami Zayn. He’s been expected to get the promotion to the main roster for some time now and now’s the time to do it.

Enjoy Survivor Series. Feel free to post your predictions here. In the meantime, I’m going to listen to a few songs such as “Roxanne”, “Fields of Gold” and “Englishman in New York”.
