WWE WrestleMania XXX Prediction Contest

In 1985, WrestleMania was born. It was ground-breaking. It got a lot of people talking and it catapulted the then World Wrestling Federation on top of the wrestling world. Fast forward to 2014 and here we are celebrating WrestleMania 30. That’s a remarkable achievement. It deserves to be celebrated. Over the past 3 months, I’ve been reviewing all 29 WrestleManias and its so cool reliving those memories all over again and that’s what WrestleMania is all about, the memories. When something amazing happens at WrestleMania it lives forever. There’s a reason why we’re still talking about Hulk Hogan bodyslamming Andre The Giant to this very day. Will WrestleMania 30 create any memories? I’m sure it would. I’m looking forward to it! It feels like the build to this show has been even bigger than ever before because that number 30 is so significant. With Hogan returning, Warrior in the Hall of fame and several superstars making appearances, it truly feels like a massive event.

As always, the crew and I predict the outcome of the matches as well as some tie breaker questions. The league table looks like this:

1. RIF – 37

2. Michael & Dan – 30

3. Joe – 22

With that out of the way, let’s get on with WrestleMania 30.

Pre-Show

WWE Tag Team Championship

The Usos © vs. The Real Americans (Jack Swagger & Cesaro) vs. Ryback & Curtis Axel vs. Los Matadores

RIF: The Usos

Joe: The Usos

Michael: Real Americans

Dan: The Usos

Looking at the talent on show, this is a good way to kick off WrestleMania but it’s also a shame that these guys aren’t on the main card. They deserve to be in my eyes. The Usos will pick up the victory here. There still in the infant stages of their tag title run and deserve a long run as champions. This could also be the night where Cesaro turns face. They could hold on until the next night on Raw where he can deliver a giant swing on Swagger or Coulter or even both guys! Love that move I do. It’s so old school! I would give it about 15 minutes and with a ton of high flying spots to get the fans pumped up. The 1st match of the card is just as important as the main event. This is my EWR booker days talking.

The Shield vs. Kane & The New Age Outlaws

RIF: The Shield

Joe: The Shield

Michael: Kane & New Age Outlaws

Dan: Kane & New Age Outlaws

The Shield are literally the best thing going in the WWE today. Three future stars who are continuing to grow as performers. Reigns is poised to become the breakout star of the group. Ambrose is terrific as a heel in my opinion and Rollins is hands down the best performer of the three. His performance at Elimination Chamber earned him the “star of the night” award. The older guys shouldn’t be winning this one as it’s all about the Shield getting the victory. They won’t break up tonight, that’s likely to happen in the summer. I’m expecting a clean victory with Roman Reigns winning it for his team as management are high on the kid.

Diva’s Championship

Vickie Guerrero Invitational

Naomi vs. Cameron vs. Nikki Bella vs. Brie Bella vs. AJ Lee © vs. Natalya vs. Eva Marie vs. Emma vs. Aksana vs. Alicia Fox vs. Summer Rae vs. Rosa Mendes vs. Layla vs. Tamina Snuka

RIF: AJ Lee

Joe: Nikki Bella

Michael: Natalya

Dan: Nikki Bella

I’m not expecting much from this one. It has some protental but I can’t seem them utilising it. Expect it to get 5 minutes with all the divas hitting their finishers on one another whiles AJ gets a sneaky victory. I want to point out that whenever I do these predictions, I always think about the long term of it too. With the stipulation being a one fall match as oppose to the invitational match at WrestleMania 20, I’ve gone for AJ to retain the title and here’s why. The next night on Raw, have AJ come to the ring with her bodyguard, Tamina. AJ can cut a promo about being the most dominant diva in history and how she has humiliated every diva including her (Tamina). Tamina needs to act pissed off whiles AJ is totally oblivious to her reaction. Whiles she’s in mid rant, out comes Paige from NXT. Paige challenges AJ for the Divas title which is accepted by the champion. Give them 10 minutes of pure wrestling and a lot of nearfalls. The ending comes when Paige locks in the Ram-Paige. AJ is begging Tamina for help. When it looks as if Tamina is ready to help out, she changes her mind and refuses to help. AJ finally taps and we’ve got ourselves a new champion/ star in Paige. Will they do it? I honest don’t know but it makes sense from a booking perspective.

The 30 Man Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal

Alberto Del Rio, Big E, Big Show, Brad Maddox, Brodus Clay, Christian, Cody Rhodes, Damien Sandow, Darren Young, Dolph Ziggler, Fandango, Drew McIntyre, Goldust, The Great Khali, Heath Slater, Jinder Mahal, Justin Gabriel, Kofi Kingston, Mark Henry, The Miz, Rey Mysterio, Sheamus, R-Truth, Santino Marella, Sin Cara, Titus O’Neil, Zack Ryder & 3 unannounced participants.

RIF: Big Show

Joe: Big E

Michael: Sheamus

Dan: Mark Henry

Remember in WCW when Big Show (or Giant as he was known then) was billed as Andre’s son? Crazy! It’s nice to have a memorial to Andre at the 30th WrestleMania. Andre’s impact on the business is unmeasurable. He was the biggest draw of the 70s/80s and deserves to be remembered. It makes sense to have a Battle Royal since that was Andre’s gimmick back in the day. He very rarely lost these sorts of matches. So far, 3 participants have yet to be announced. They could be returning stars or 3 guys from NXT making their WrestleMania appearance. Rumour has it that Rob Van Dam could be one of the guys. Sounds possible I reckon. Sting is another name that has cropped up. If he were to appear at Mania, it would be during or after Undertaker’s match with Brock. I also believe that a young up and coming star should win this one hence why I’ve gone with the Intercontinental Champion, Big E. Management are high on the kid so a victory here could add some more credibility to the master of the five count! They’ve made it obvious that Big Show is the favourite so they could have him as the runner up and afterwards he could present the trophy to Big E. If booked correctly, this match could help showcase several new talents on the biggest stage of them all.

Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker

RIF: Undertaker

Joe: Undertaker

Michael: Undertaker

Dan: Undertaker

Anything other than an Undertaker victory isn’t happening. The streak should never end! Period! It’s going to be a solid match for sure. I can imagine that Undertaker will take an absolute battering from the beast before getting the victory. I wish they mentioned that Undertaker has never defeated Brock before because it would give Brock somewhat of an advantage. What also surprises me about this is that a stipulation hasn’t been announced for it. Most Brock matches since his 2012 return have had some stipulation attached to it. I reckon a stipulation will be added at the last minute. This match should be filled with a lot of nearfalls and submission attempts as both guys are equipped with moves that are going to draw a reaction out of the crowd. Lesnar should hit at least 2 F-5. Those could be massive nearfalls for him. He should also kick-out of a Tombstone too. The winner will be Undertaker. No question about it. His matches have been match of the year contenders for the past 5 years and that’s outstanding for a guy who is knocking on 50. Undertaker’s WrestleMania matches are something I always look forward to!

John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt

RIF: Bray Wyatt

Joe: Bray Wyatt

Michael: Bray Wyatt

Dan: John Cena

I’ve got to be honest; this has been the hardest match to predict. It could go either way. On one hand, Cena should probably win and get his revenge over Bray after he screwed him over at the Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber. The good guy getting his revenge is the easiest story to tell but with a lot of other faces going over at WM, Cena is in a position where he doesn’t need to win. Wyatt has impressed me since his debut on the main roster. Putting him against John Cena at WrestleMania just shows how much management believes in him. He’s a guy that’s going places, he’s going to be main eventing for years to come and you could pinpoint this as his breakthrough match. He showed how good he can be in that awesome match against Daniel Bryan at the Royal Rumble so I’m confident that he can put on yet another strong performance against John Cena. The feud will continue and Cena will obviously win the feud, that’s for certain. Win or lose, you don’t stick anyone in the ring with John Cena at WrestleMania unless you want and expect big things to happen.

Winner participates in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match

Daniel Bryan vs. Triple H

RIF: Daniel Bryan

Joe: Daniel Bryan

Michael: Daniel Bryan

Dan: Daniel Bryan

This match is likely to take place early in the show. It could either be the opening match or the 2nd match. I feel like I’ve been saying Daniel Bryan should win until I’ve gone blue in the face. He should win. He needs to win. Hunter is a guy who doesn’t wrestle that much and his job is to put Bryan over 1…2….3. Since SummerSlam the Daniel Bryan story has been the hottest arc the WWE has attempted in years. It’s cooled and reheated several times, and been a never-ending torment to the Daniel Bryan faithful. It will get time that I’m sure of. It needs enough time to tell a good story and it has the potential to draw some huge crowd reactions. There are a lot of ways this could go. Another possibility could see Triple H get himself disqualified. Have him whack D-Bry with a chair and injure his knee. All I do know is if Daniel Bryan isn’t in the main event of WrestleMania XXX, there WILL be a riot in New Orleans!

WWE World Heavyweight Championship

Batista vs. Randy Orton © vs. Daniel Bryan or Triple H

RIF: Daniel Bryan

Joe: Daniel Bryan

Michael: Batista

Dan: Randy Orton

Anything other than a Daniel Bryan victory is unacceptable. There is no reason for Daniel Bryan not to leave WrestleMania as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. They’ve spent all this time screwing him over and this is the big payoff we’ve all been looking forward to. There here now and they can’t afford to screw it up. Orton and Batista have been decent in the build up to this match. They are better as heels. I still believe Triple H will be involved in this match in some way. Either as a Fatal 4 way or interference, Triple H will have a part to play in this match. This match is all about the Daniel Bryan victory. Enjoy the moment, guys. Daniel Bryan is a hardworking guy who deserves to be in the main event of WrestleMania. Just imagine 70,000 chanting YES along with the new World Heavyweight Champion! No one else deserves it more than him.

***Tie Breakers***

Aside from the Hall of Fame, will there be a Legends segment on the show?

RIF: Yes

Joe: Yes

Michael: Yes

Dan: Yes

It’s been reported that the WWE have been in contact with their major draws from the past 30 years to do some sort of segment. Stone Cold has been confirmed to make an appearance so the likelihood of this happening is very strong. They could get the Legends out to thank the fans for making WrestleMania possible then have some heels (3MB or even Bad News Barrett) come out to make fun of them, make a few “old man” jokes and end the segment with the legends hitting their finishers on the heels.

Will Hulk Hogan get physically involved?

RIF: Yes

Joe: Yes

Michael: Yes

Dan: Yes

I think he will but he can’t take any bumps because of his back problems. I think he’ll appoint himself as the guest enforcer of the match and attack an interfering Triple H. Just imagine the roar of the crowd when he Hulks up, does the finger waging, the three punches and throws Hunter over the top rope. He could also be on hand to hand over the title to Daniel Bryan after the match. What an awesome sight that would be seeing a legend like Hogan handing over the title to a guy who has busted his ass on the indy circuit on the main stage at WrestleMania.

What will the opening match be?

RIF: Battle Royal

Joe: Divas Championship

Michael: Triple H vs. Daniel Bryan

Dan: 6 Man Tag

Shot in the dark. It should be a mutli-person match as they tend to get the crowd excited.

Who will be the first person eliminated from the Battle Royal?

RIF: Brad Maddox

Joe: Heath Slater

Michael: Heath Slater

Dan: Jinder Mahal

It’s got to be a heel that goes first and a comedy heel at best. Heath Slater seems likely to be the first to go I reckon. Slaters gonna slate!

Will there be some god awful music concert during the show?

RIF: Yes

Joe: No

Michael: No

Dan: No

So far no guests have been booked hence why I’ve gone for no. Things can change though. We’ve seen it happen at the past few WrestleManias so it’s likely to happen.

Will Sting make his debut?

RIF: No

Joe: Yes

Michael: No

Dan: No

I can confirm that Sting IS in New Orleans over WrestleMania weekend. He’s doing Wrestle-Con. Unlike last year, where he was at New Jersey for Wrestle-Con, he isn’t under contract at TNA. It’s very possible that he could make an appearance at WrestleMania but I reckon they’ll hold up until the next night on Raw. Heck, he might even appear on Raw either. It’s up in the air. I don’t think he’ll appear at WM but he may appear on Raw to confront Undertaker and issue a challenge for WrestleMania 31.

Guess the attendance (closest figure wins)

RIF: 72,500

Joe: 70,000

Michael: 71,000

Dan: 70,500

No idea. Complete guess. Whatever the attendance it’s going to be impressive. WrestleMania has that attraction about it.

Whatever you’re doing for WM30, enjoy the experience and feel free to share your predictions/ thoughts on the show.
