Night of Champions is that time of year where every single title in the WWE will be on the line for one night only. However, that won’t be the case this year with Curtis Axel taking on CM Punk in a non-title match. United States Champion, Dean Ambrose, isn’t on the card but is rumoured to face Dolph Ziggler on the show. To me, Night of Champions should be exactly that, a night where all the Champions defend their respected titles. No exceptions! It really irritates me when that happens.
Looking at the card, with the exception of Bryan vs. Orton nothing else really sticks out. I’m guessing that this would mainly be used as a build up to their next pay per view; Battleground. It’s rumoured that a “War Games” match will take place on that show. I guess that would be possible with the release of the War Games DVD so it’s a strong possibility that match could happen.
As you know, we predict the outcomes of the matches for points but for no prizes. Minimum wage guys come on! The league table so far is as follow:
1. RIF – 153
2. Michael – 125
3. Dan – 121.5
4. Joe – 121
RIF is way out in front, Mike is second, I’m third but only just and Joey is bottom. It’s getting tight at the bottom and with only 4 pay per views left to go, I guess it’s pretty much safe to say that RIF has won for the second time running so I guess it’s a battle for 2nd place now. Anything can change, will it change at NOC?
Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton ©
RIF: Randy Orton to defend the WWE Championship
Dan: Randy Orton to defend the WWE Championship
Michael: Daniel Bryan to become new WWE Champion
Joe: Randy Orton to defend the WWE Championship
Finally, Randy Orton has turned heel. Excellent. Everyone, ourselves included, have been begging for this to happen. It’s a role he excels in. Don’t get me wrong, he was pretty good as a face and his programme with Christian back in 2010 was outstanding stuff but in the end, it got pretty stale and now the Legend Killer is back. The storyline has been fantastic ever since it unfolded at Summerslam. Triple H and his “corporation” have been getting the better of Daniel Bryan and the rest of the WWE roster over the past weeks with Daniel Bryan being on the receiving end of a beat down. On the final two telelvision shows before the event, Bryan got his revenge and looks like he could win. It’s been a great storyline with the Big Show sub-plot in the background. Speaking about Big Show, I can see him turning heel (again) here. He ‘needs the money’ so he could join the new Triple H stable as its enforcer. Just imagine those “You sold out” chants he’ll receive. This feud will continue. Daniel Bryan is the hottest act in the WWE right now and he’ll remain in title contention for the foreseeable future.
World Heavyweight Championship
Alberto Del Rio © vs. Rob Van Dam
RIF: Alberto Del Rio to defend World Heavyweight Championship
Dan: Rob Van Dam to become new World Heavyweight Champion
Michael: Rob Van Dam to become new World Heavyweight Champion
Joe: Alberto Del Rio to defend World Heavyweight Championship
Rob Van Dam is the perfect opponent for Del Rio’s title because he’s a big name who will bring value as a challenger to the World Heavyweight Championship. I personally think Van Dam will win the title. That’s just me. There are no face champions in the WWE so this would be the perfect time to put the title on Van Dam. Listen to those “R-V-D” chants he gets. How loud are they? He’s still got it! The pairing of Ricardo just seems odd and out of place. Don’t get me wrong, Ricardo is a superb talent but pairing him with Van Dam doesn’t seem right to me. Maybe this could lead to a swerve perhaps? Maybe Del Rio’s attack on Ricardo was a way of toughen him up.
CM Punk vs. Curtis Axel & Paul Heyman
RIF: CM Punk
Dan: CM Punk
Michael: Curtis Axel & Paul Heyman
Joe: CM Punk
For the first time since Night of Champions debut in 2007, the Intercontinental title will not be on the line. In fact, this is the first time an active WWE title will not be defended at Night of Champions. No wonder the Intercontinental title (and United States championship for that matter) has lost its prestige in recent years and that’s a damn shame! As for the match, it’s all about CM Punk getting his revenge on Paul Heyman with Curtis Axel getting into the mix to gain him some notoriety. Could a new ‘Paul Heyman Guy’ appear? It’s possible but never the less; CM Punk to get the win and my gut feeling says he’ll get involved in the Daniel Bryan/ Triple H corporation feud.
WWE Divas Championship
AJ Lee © vs. Natalya vs. Brie Bella vs. Naomi
RIF: AJ Lee to defend Divas Championship
Dan: AJ Lee to defend Divas Championship
Michael: AJ Lee to defend Divas Championship
Joe: AJ Lee to defend Divas Championship
I need to be honest guys, I actually enjoy the Total Divas show. It’s actually pretty good. Not as bad as I envisioned it to be. It’s been a huge hit on TLC and it’s got to the point where a second season has been commissioned. With all of that being said, I would hate to think that a title change would be made just because the show is popular. A lot of fans we speak to via Twitter and Facebook are rooting for AJ to win (some are siding with Natalya too). AJ represents the hardcore fans, the ones who are proud of those who pay their dues and work their way to the top through hard work and determination. We honestly believe AJ will get the win here with and continue her mocking of the Total Divas stars and eventually drop the title to one of the show’s stars. Personally, I would love it to be Natalya. Nobody deserves it more than her but realistically; it’s going to be one of the Bella Twins unfortunately.
Tag Team Turmoil Match (pre show)
Tons of Funk (Brodus Clay & Sweet T) vs. The Real Americans (Jack Swagger & Antonio Cesaro) vs. Prime Time Players (Titus O’Neal & Darren Young) vs. The Usos (Jimmy & Jey) vs. 3MB (Heath Slather/ Drew McIntyre & Jinder Mahal)
RIF: Prime Time Players
Dan: Prime Time Players
Michael: Prime Time Players
Joe: Prime Time Players
Read reasons in next match.
WWE Tag Team Championship
The Shield (Roman Reigns & Seth Rollins) vs. Prime Time Players (Titus O’Neil & Darren Young)
RIF: Prime Time Players become new Tag Team Champions
Dan: Prime Time Players become new Tag Team Champions
Michael: The Shield retain Tag titles
Joe: The Shield retain Tag titles
The Prime Time Players have been on a major role since Summerslam, some may say that having Darren Young announce his sexuality had a part to play in this but I don’t see it that way. The PTP have been working very hard for the last several months on every WWE programme. Television show or not, they’ve always delivered the goods. They are constantly on every Youtube show, pre-show and post show. Whatever WWE is doing, they are a part of it too. If the Shield were to win, I believe it will be a cheap victory but PTP WILL become the tag champions real soon! MILLION OF DOLLARS~!
Will a United States Championship match take place?
Of Course. Either an announcement will be made before the show or on the show itself. Who will the opponent be? Dolph Ziggler. He’s been rumoured for it so I’ll go with him. Will he win? Nope.
Who will be involved in the finish in the fatal 4 way match? (1.5 point per correct answer)
RIF: AJ > Naomi
Dan: AJ > Natalya
Michael: AJ > Naomi
Joe: AJ > Natalya
I’ve gone with AJ pinning Natalya since that’s what I believe the next feud will be. Naomi seems to be a logical choice too as she’s low of experience and will end up making a “rookie mistake”.
Will Cody Rhodes return?
I believe Big Show will turn heel. After the match, Big Show and Orton will put the boots to Bryan; this will lead to Cody Rhodes coming through the crowd to make the save. The pop would be huge if that were to happen. This could lead to a programme between Big Show & Cody with Cody winning his job back and continuing on with the Orton/Bryan feud.
Thanks for reading guys. Feel free to add your predictions too. Enjoy Night of Champions.
